    Abstract

Some enterprise workloads have an extra high demand for availability, scalability, resiliency and security. A significant part of this is covered by the Mainframe's middleware, operating systems and hardware. This goes all the way down to the unique chip design and many redundant components that can be replaced while the machine is running. Compare this to exchanging an airplane engine … in flight.
