Machine Learning (ML) is a rapidly growing field of the computer science that has far reaching applications even outside the academics and specialized industries. Thanks to the Big Data (r)evolution, Machine Learning is becoming popular even in smaller businesses. Moreover, there are many tools and projects that allow running ML algorithms even by enthusiasts without a mathematical or statistical background.
In this presentation we will show some of the most common ML algorithms together with their prevalent use cases and we will demonstrate them on very simple examples. We will also discuss a possible integration with Db2.
Objectives:
1. A very brief introduction into ML and basic ideas.
2. A very brief introduction into the available machine learning tools.
3. Discuss the typical use cases on simple examples.

Provision of databases was never easier. With Ansible, you can now provision mainframe databases. In this session, we will go through all the steps required to provision the IMS database. We will create our own Ansible playbook which will do all the required work for us. Come to see how Ansible can help you with your daily tasks.

Accelerate your digital transformation calling IMS using REST APIs with z/OS Connect EE.
The digital economy has forever changed how consumers, businesses, and employees interact. To create powerful and useful mobile apps, the use of application programming interfaces (APIs) becomes essential. Nearly 70% of all enterprise transactions touch a mainframe, yet the mainframe is not thought of as API powerhouses. In this session we will present and demonstrate that zSystem are fully conversant with REST APIs. We will guide you through the IBM technologie called z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition to expose an IMS program through a REST API.

Demo of Consuming a REST API from an IMS program using z/OS Connect EE
zSystem is often seen as a backend system. But it’s not true: zSystem interacts more and more with applications outside of its area, and sometimes outside of the company’s area. It can be a micro service in a cloud provider like Amazon, or Azure. Those micro services use the REST standard to interact with. On the zSystem this standard is not simple to apply in Cobol or PL1. To make this integration smooth, one option is to use z/OS Connect EE. In this presentation you will see how to call a REST API from an IMS transaction with z/OS Connect EE.
