Session Evaluation

Certificates play an important part of ensuring that client server communication to and from z/OS takes place in a way that ensures secure data transport with both parties knowing that the other one is who they claim to be. It's not just about public private keys however, there are certificate authorities, trust roots, subject alternate names, extended key usage attributes, keyrings, keystores, enterprise security managers, x509 and .SSHID authentication, and more.
This talk will cover scenarios that matter to z/OS sites, such as using certs to replace userID/password login. Creating server side certificates from bottom up and having clients trust them, as well as taking externally issued certificates top down and gaining z/OS environment’s trust. In my experience with z/OS customers big and small, whether working with new to Z or experienced sysprogs, many folks get stuck with difficult to diagnose and fix issues where the resolution is around how TLS and SSH handshaking occurs when certificates are in play. This talk is designed to cover the most common ones as well as provide background to help folks understand the moving parts and hopefully avoid getting any in their own environments !

As Mainframe customers are creating third copies, untouchable copies or offload Data to the cloud is it still relevant to know what is going on, on your Tapes and Disks?
Or contrarily you must make sure you are capable of reporting on these devices because of regulations? Tape and disk space becomes cheaper and cheaper. Why should you still be capable of mapping the usage to applications, business units or even users? I would like to get your opinion and experience on this topic and share with you, what we learned from our customers.

Session Evaluation

IBM delivers a "treasure trove" of undocumented commands free to use by all z/OS V2R5 and 3.1 clients. Familiarity with these features
can provide significant productivity gains to serious bug hunters and even part-time casual dump readers can benefit from the high-level
functions that provide otherwise-hard-to-find problem overview information. These undocumented commands are not supported, so if
and when they don't work, we won't expect IBM to fix them. But when they do work (which is almost all the time), they provide invaluable
information and insight that can help z/OS problem diagnosticians shave off hours dump diagnosis time. William Penn said, "Knowledge
is the treasure of a wise man." Come to this session and leave a little richer and wiser.

In the landscape of enterprise systems compromised of cloud providers, z/OS, and many middleware, integration, and development programs, it becomes a complex web that can seem impossible to connect and test all together. There is an answer, and that involves understanding applications, what areas could easily have integration tests stitched together, and how to implement testing as a service within your organisation. This session will cover the technical details to understand more about application integration testing, how Galasa, an open-source project, could be implemented at scale and worked examples of integration testing to help make it easier to scale testing at your organisation.

This session highlights all the new features in CICS TS 6.2 directly from the CICS team. Developers will be able to use new versions of Java, Jakarta, Spring Boot, and Node.js to modernize and extend applications. CICS administrators will be able to further optimise applications with threadsafe access to shared data tables, reduced volumes of data written to SMF, automate more with CICS policies and Ansible, and use the power of the IBM Z platform to further improve the systems’ resilience and scalability. CICS and security administrators have new features, tools and workflows to tighten security for valuable transactions and data that is best practice and a requirement when adopting a Zero Trust strategy.

Session Evaluation

Testing COBOL applications in CICS environments often requires specialized approaches to ensure system reliability and performance. This session will focus on practical techniques for creating and executing effective test strategies for COBOL applications that interact with CICS. Topics will include automated testing for transaction processing, managing dependencies in test environments, and balancing traditional and modern testing methods. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to approach testing challenges specific to CICS and tools that can support these efforts.

Session Evaluation

For many years transaction security has been the main way of securing applications. In many cases users have been granted individual access to transactions, or are members of groups that are no longer required for their role. This session will present an end to end description of the workflow of CICS Security Discovery which is designed to solve that problem and help you identify the roles, command and resource definitions in your production regions. There will be a demo of the Security Discovery Explorer Editor which analyses your existing security definitions, and production usage to identify roles, the users in these roles and their access to applications and resources.

Session Evaluation

IBM CICS continues to be a cornerstone for many organisations, continually modernising with the latest and most secure development and test capabilities. Surely, CICS needs a robust testing framework to maintain its' integrity and efficiency. This is a difficult challenge, because there are thousands of tests to think about - from security, to modern languages, modern source code management, and the use of CI/CD pipelines. How difficult can it be to continue to transform the way that CICS is developed and tested? Well, this session delves into the innovative use of Galasa, an open-source test integration framework, to enhance how CICS test their complex applications.
